Liner Notes

I feel very blessed for all the wonderful opportunities I have experienced this far in my step dancing and music career. Looking back, I am thankful and also surprised just how much I have learned in such a relatively short period of time. I am excited about the present and truly look forward to whatever the future might bring. With this being said, I dedicate this album to all those who have supported, taught, and inspired me along the way.

I credit my dancing abilities to my step dance teacher, Judy Waymouth (a champion dancer, instructor, and choreographer) with whom I started my journey. I continue to take step dance lessons, now also fiddle lessons from her son, Kyle Waymouth (award-winning step dancer, multi-instrumentalist). I dedicate two tunes on this album to Judy and Kyle – “Duelling Fiddle and Step Dance” and “Leo’s Reel” (composed by Kyle).

Accomplished fiddler, Doug McNaughton, has influenced my music and I am thankful for his instruction and continued encouragement. He motivated me to learn amazing tunes such as “Archie Menzies” and “Niel Gow’s Lament for the Death of His Second Wife”.

The multi-talented fiddle champion Scott Woods has become someone I admire. He has introduced me to many great musicians with whom I have enjoyed sharing the stage. Scott has been invaluable with the making of this album – my very first recording.

Lastly, I thank my family. Not only for their unconditional love and support, but also for the long hours they’ve endured while I practiced, performed, and competed, and also for the many miles of driving to and from lessons, shows, and everything else in between.

With all my friends and family by my side, I am beginning to explore new styles; from Bluegrass to Texas Swing, trying new instruments, and more. Now I can’t help but wonder… What’s Next?
